Casey At The Bat
I was commissioned by The National Pastime Museum to create a piece based on the poem "Casey at the Bat: A Ballad of the Republic Sung in the Year 1888" by Ernest Thayer. I took inspiration from certain historical references as well as Disney's "Casey at the Bat" 1946 short. One thing I wanted to touch on was Casey's hometown of Mudville, which can be seen in the background. I imagine it as a small, but burgeoning American town on the precipice of national notoriety until Casey fucked it up and shamed them all.
